Re-evaluation of the 30 Bb. Pilipinas 2012 Candidates based on Headshots

By Jetset Alejandro

Now that the official photos of the candidates are out, let us see how the girls fared this time. I will evaluate the girls as they come with their numbers:

#1 Karen Gallman
1. Karen Gallman – I was surprised to see this girl experimenting on another hairdo. She looks chic, pretty and cute. She presented herself in the picture with a smile that of the Mona Lisa. Did she achieve it? Well, the girl does not evoke an enigmatic smile. This girl however has style. She simply looks great.
2. Romelyn Roxanne De Castro- a respectable picture but was not able to get the totality of the personality of Romelyn.
#3 Nicole Marable
3. Nicole Marable is beautiful, girlish and winsome. You can tell by her face that she is a young girl still blossoming. Give her 2 or 3 years and she will fully blossom into a very fine young lady.
4. Jaine Hidalgo – I don’t know if I have the same feeling like the others. But I like Jaine’s other pictures. She is full of sexiness and glamour. But in her headshot, something is missing. She was not able to bring out that sensuality. She failed to be the girl that enamored by a thousand men.
5. Rose Ann Aguilar – she used to be my favorite. She’s pretty but lacks the sparkle to stand out.
6. Maria Alicia Elena Ariosa – a well-taken portrait. She gives out a very good smile. She gives out a beautiful aura but she fails to make a difference.

#7 Patricia Lae Ejercitado
7. Patricia Lae Ejercitado – oh, oh. This girl amazes me. Her screening pictures just showed that she can look great. She however gave a dampened presentation of herself during the talent presentation.. But her headshot tells us something differently. She’s a chameleon and whether we like it or not, those changes allow her to make adjustments to what suits her best. She looks ravishing in this picture. She’s striking. She’s phenomenal. She’s enigmatic. She’s simply stunning.
#8 Nicole Schmitz
8. Nicole Schmitz – it is the smile that worries me. But someone pointed out that this is the same Melanie Marquez trademark smile. If it did well for Melanie, then why complain. This girl (or her handlers) seems to read forums and blogs since her styling and make-up is a lot notches higher than her previous presentation. Although she’s pretty well done here, it seems like she lost some spark and luster in this headshot.
9. MJ Lastimosa – oh oh…What happened? The girl does not evoke the victory. She is simply fading in this picture. Her pictures in the Talent Competition show she is the front-runner. But this headshot does not do her justice. She slid two notches lower. Her smile seems to be wanting. Her eyes does not show the confidence that she is in the lead.
10. Jillean Camille Orbino – I don’t know what to say. There is something in her face that attracts you. But I just don’t get it. The bun above does shoe her elongated face. I have seen other pictures of this girl that showed she can be sophisticated but it just don’t fit right now. I suggest a different styling for this girl. It might make the difference.
#11 Marie Peter
11. Marie Virgenia Cecile Peter – I am a convert of this girl. In her previous outings, I just felt she just doesn’t have the it. But when her official headshot came out, she came out so resplendently beautiful. I have been clamoring for a better styling for this girl and she came out just real real good. A shoo-in for the Binibining Pilipinas-International title.
#12 Ayelee Dasalla
12. Ayelee Dasalla – Wow, what a refreshing face. Good repartee. I have not seen that much pictures of her since the talent competition. She just wasn’t good looking during that event but she redeemed herself in this refreshing photograph of her.
13. Katrina Jayne Dimaranan – one of the much maligned candidates for being a dead-ringer of another maligned candidate during the 2011 edition. Katrina’s headshot by any standard is respectable. She projects well with the camera. She had an acceptable face. But I think she will not go that far.
14. Gina Joy Howell – Oh oh oh . I thought this girl will step up. I have seen previous pics of this girl in her photoshoots, Miss Angeles City etc. And she gloriously had a very good projection. But in this series, she projects a very virginal look. There is timidity in that face. She seemed recluse. When everyone is upping their ante, this girl seems to have lowered her competitive stance to 2 notches lower. After Marie Peter upped her ante for the a possible slot for the Binibining Pilipinas title, Gina Joy maybe relegated to the Tourism title.
15. Elaine Kay Moll –I thought this girl has stepped up her competitive stance. In the talent competition presentation, she was just wonderful. Her patina in this headshot seemed to have deemed. She is not sparkling. What happened to her?
16. Leizl Alcantara – another girl with a pretty face. But I just not seem to get her. I mean I cannot feel her. A photo can say a lot of words but Leizl’s photo is just simply beautiful and it is just like that.
17. Anna Czarina Buenviage – there is something haunting in this girl’s picture. She may not be the most beautiful in the bunch but she simply has a mystifying facial demeanor. Watch out for this girl. She may just be one of those that may spoil your pageant appetite.
18. Janine Tugonon – this girl was repackaged when she jumped into the other camp. She used to be the sweet sugary girl in 2011 but she was transformed into someone who is sophisticated. Were they successful? Well, I am so sorry. In this headshot, Janine despite her beautiful smile just lost the spark and the blissful mirth that she had previously in 2011. I really don’t know but this is how I feel for her in this picture.
#19 Roxane Joy Jesalva
19. Roxanne Joy Jesalva – this is a very decent picture. This is the best outcome for this girl so far who had irritated me for continuously sporting that tossed up hair from the screening till the talent competition. My question was that can’t they have another hairdo to match her attractive face? Although in this picture she still sports that hair, they have found the right make-up to doll-up a pretty face. However, she should try other hairstyles as she could get boring to no end. If she persist in that hairstyle, I would suspect she is covering and harboring another head… LOL (Laughs out Loud).
#20 Roxanne Tadique
20. Roxanne Tadigue – I love Roxanne’s headshot. It is pretty respectable. She projects poignantly and her eyes just speak. This is what photogenic is all about.
21. Giselle Angelica Munoz – Pretty decent repartee. She projects like Karen Agustin. Let us see how she will be able to make the resemblance a positive thing for her.
22. Meiji Cruz- in an attempt to probably not look Ana Teresa Licaros, she changed her hairstyle. She however was not successful in her attempt.
23. Goldy Baroa – this girl turns me off whenever she uses her colored contact lenses. The outcome for this endeavor is much much better than her previous pictures. However, I can still discern that she used contact lenses in this output.
24. Fer Mary Baliquig – this girl has not been getting a round of good pictures. This headshot is a lot better than her previous pictures seen during the screening till talent day. She had better styling this time, however, it seems like the picture is pretty darkened in the face area. Photoshop problems?
25. Chloe Zanardi – They changed her packaging. In this headshot picture, she seemed to be young junior going into her prom night.
26. Angelee De los Reyes- there seemed to be something off with the facial contours of this girl. Is it the nose?
#27 Golda Soller
27. Golda Soller – whenever I look at Golda’s headshot, why do I have this feeling that she might just come from behind and win it all..
28. Marie Irisha Arcenas – she’s a vamp in this picture. She pretty looks like Divina Valencia.
29. Analie Forbes- she is not stepping up. She is just there. There were no changes in her projection from screening till this outing.
#30 Sherlyn Gonzales
30. Sherlyn Gonzales – she is real real good looking in this picture. Wow, she emerged from a cocoon and developed into a beautiful butterfly.
My choices for the headshots:
1. Karen Gallman

2. Nicole Marable
3. Patricia Lae Ejercitado
4. Nicole Schmitz
5. Marie Peter
6. Ayalee Dasalla
7. Roxanne Joy Jesalva

8. Roxanne Tadique
9. Golda Soller
10. Sherlyn Gonzales

PHILIPPINE SECTION: HOT PICKS FOR BB. PILIPINAS 2012

HOT PICKS FOR WEEK # 1

*****
HOT PICKS WEEK # 2

After the talent competition, Janine Tugonon blazes in front. MJ Lastimosa chooses another hairstyle and suits her. Karen Gallman slides a bit but she is still hanging there. Nicole Schmitz tones down her styling and she came out shining through. Patricia Lae Ejercitado seemed to be just there. Jesalva still maintains the same styling and presentation. Ali Forbes is still around the corner. Candidate Number 10, Jillean Orbina took 2 strides this time and people took a second look at her. Elaine Kay Moll changed her make-up and hairstyling and she did exceptionally well while Gina Joy Howell was equally resplendent in her new found look.

*****
HOT PICKS WEEK # 3

Janine Tugonon slips through our pageant expert's choice. Her skin tanning is not effective as she is not a real morena beauty. What does she intend to showcase with that? She looks fake and her body contours do not give her the edge over the other candidates. MJ Lastimosa made it to no. 1 for the first time on our hot picks then followed by Gallman and Ejercitado moves two notches higher in third place after two consecutive fifth places in the previous two hot picks. Schmitz maintains her fourth ranking. It seems that this girl is just biding her time. Can she be waiting for the Press Presentation to present her hidden goods? It is the first time that Elaine Kay Moll enters the Top 5 in 5th place. With Janine Tugonon, who in previous week is in no. 1 spot slips to 6th place. Then the rest of the Top 10 with Jesalva in 7th place, Howell in 8th place, Martinez in 9th place and rounding out the Top 10, Marable in 10th place.
