This year, the girls paraded in casuals and cocktail dresses. My overall take on the dresses? I find it very low in fashion sense. The expectations are high on the dresses but it frustrates the audience to just see the girls wearing just as such. Another comment, why is it that the girls are all smiling? This is a fashion show and yet they are all with their sweetest smiles. They should have the haughty demeanor because this is a fashion show. And I understand this is a contest and everyone has their own bets so to speak but I am really wondering if we really watched the same show because these readers are just reacting to the pictures that may not have captured the essence of the moment. But well, these are my comments from being a spectator among the crowd.
1. Karen Gallman. I am back to my first favorite. She is sweet. She is laudable and she sparkles. The clothes she wore for the fashion show are well suited for her.
2. Romelyn De Castro. She tried hard to shine but she can’t keep with the momentum of the other candidates.
3. Nicole Marable was sweet looking during the fashion show. But the clothes she wore did not do justice to her. She did not do justice to the clothes either since this is fashion show. But oh my, even if you want to have a fashion model stance, you can’t help but smile because there are so many shrieking fans shouting and raving at this girl. If popularity is the name of the game, she is one of those girls that command interest among the public.
4. Jaine Hidalgo’s stance was pretty more decent in the last outing. With black lacy cocktail dress she paraded, she was perfect that it erased her previous outing in the runway.
5. RoseAnn Uy Aguilar ‘s pretty Chinese mestiza face radiated throughout the proceedings. However, I lament that the clothes she wore were really awful and that her radiant repartee is not enough to draw much attention to her.
6. Maria Alicia Elena Ariosa showed what it got to be in the runway but she is overshadowed by the other candidates.
7. Patricia Lae Ejercitado has got a lot of fans cheering for her. In her first outing, the dress that she wore was the worst among the bunch but she carried it well. She was good but she was in her best in the second outing as she showed the great confidence of a skillful runway person.
8. Nicole Schmitz showed a superb performance in the runway. She is riveting. She is shining through. Although in the first outing she has the second worst outfit to show in the runway, she has look of a confident woman. Her last outfit was one of the best in that batch.
9. MJ Lastimosa – great presentation but why does she show the tinge of sadness in her eyes despite the fact that she is smiling. But I must say, all the dresses that MJ paraded infront of the audience showed her hour glass outline. This girl is inching her way to a title.
10. Jill Orbina’s first outing was a revelation. She can be a runway diva. But in her last outing, she seemed ill-at ease with the dress assigned to her. It showed.
11. Marie Peter did a pretty well presentation. Although the last dress she modeled did not seem to be fitted well, she came all out in her presentation.
16. Leizl Alcantara. Wow, this girl is creating not only ripples. Definitely she is generating waves. She showed a great and superb performance. Now it is making hard for pageant pundits to decide who will be the representative of the Philippines to the Miss International Pageant. She may eclipse the favorites like Gallman, Schmitz and Gonzales.
17. Ana Czarina Buenviaje was just remarkable. Nothing to crow about.
23. Goldy Baroa- they do not come in two’s. They came in threes
25. Chloe Zanardi – Oh there is a fifth one who is just there. She seems to like to pound the runway with her manly looks. Her last look seems like she was ready to take part in a horror movie.
There you are. Who do I think did well in the show? My Top 12 choices? Well they are Candidates Number 1, 4, 7, 8, 9,13,14, 16, 20,26,27,29. Binibining Pilipinas Model Look goes to Candidate Number 16. Honorable mentions: Candidate Number 8, 9 and 7.
